Certification

IAI-International offers the opportunity to certify IFC-compliant applications. Certifications have to be undertaken according to the valid specification and will be passed publicly.

  • The latest IFC2x3-Certification-Specification, valid for registered participants since 9 Feb 2007 is available >>>here
  • The IFC2x3-Certification-Specification, valid for registered participants before 9 Feb 2007 is available >>>here
  • IAI defined a two-step certification
    • Step 1: testing the application with a set of test files during a public certification workshop
    • Step 2: after end-users have used the application for at least 6 months and approved, that the quality of it's IFC-interface is sufficient, the application will be tested in a second workshop using data from real projects.
    • A certificate will be provided after each Step.
  • Depending on the required effort (setting up testfiles, facilitating the certification), a financial contribution according to the valid specification has to be payed to IAI-International per participanting application.
  • Certifications are based on a sepcific IFC release and on a so called "View Defintion". A View Defintion is specifying a subset of the overall IFC-model, which has to be supported in order meet the requirements of specific business cases. Usually certifications are managed through Virtual Projectspaces, where View Definitions and testfiles are available.
  • If you are interested in passing a certification, please download (not only open it in the browser) the registration form by clicking at this link with the right mouse-botton ( >>>here ), fill in your data and e-mail it as explained in the form. It is a PDF-form and only the XML-structure of it will be e-mailed. If you want to see the XML-structure in a nice way, you can re-import it into the form by using Acrobat. The registration will be mailed to Rasso Steinmann (IAI-ISG Coordinator), Thomas Liebich (IAI-MSG Coordinator), Beryl Garcka (IAI Business Management) and Nick Nisbeth (IAI-UK Technical Coordinator) who is helping Beryl collecting the data.
