A series of organisations and vendors are offering tools and solutions for the support of implementing IFC-compliant software such as IFC-interfaces or IFC-databases.

There are several types available:

• IFC Toolboxes (APIs for implementing IFC-interfaces (import/export IFC-files) in applications)
• IFC Model Servers (Databases for sharing instantiated IFC models)
• IFC Viewers (viewing the graphical presentation of IFC-files, quite often they also contain a tree browser)
• IFC File-Browser (viewing trees of the data structure of IFC-files)
• IFC File-Validator (testing the semantics in IFC-files)
