ISG was installed by the IC (International Council), the highest organ of IAI. It is facilitated by its coordinator, who is elected by the ITM. Some IAI-chapters have established local implementer groups, wo are contributing to the ISG.

The ISG-coordinator has a consulting, non-voting seat in IAI's ITM (International Technical Management Committee) and represents there the interests of software implementers. ISG-coordinator is also consulting the IC on issues of IFC software implementations.

Information in ISG will be provided via this website, e-mail-lists, virtual workspace based on Groove-technology and in meetings.

Necessary decissions, like implementer agreements or defintion of view specifications (= subsets of the IFCmodel to be supported by different applications types), are beeing made in ISG-meetings on a consensus basis.

The IC installed ISG in April 1999 and elected Prof. Rasso Steinmann, who is also member of the board of directors of the German Speaking IAI-chapter, as its coordinator. Rasso Steinmann had been reconfirmed three times, since then.
